NASHVILLE, TENN. (16 JUNE 2015)- John Mark McMillan is pleased to announce a new partnership between Lionhawk Records and Capitol Christian Distribution. The first release will be a collaboration EP from McMillan and his wife Sarah, You Are The Avalanche, which is set to drop June 23.
"More than a songwriter, I'm an admirer of song and I've always loved to share music," explains McMillan. "I see Lionhawk Records as just an extension of that passion. I hope the record label can be a place where I can share new music with the world, champion artists I believe in, and create opportunities for new generations to build a community. I don't want to limit the scope of the label in any way, but I'm especially interested in artists who have deep spiritual roots but don't necessarily fit some of the musical expectations that our current industry model places on them. I'm excited about our partnership with Capitol Christian Distribution, not only because of their global reach, but also for their commitment to help us introduce music to the world that otherwise may never have been heard."
Lionhawk Records was founded by John Mark McMillan and Josh Lujan Loveless in 2014. The first album released under the label was McMillan's Borderland, which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel chart and was on Billboard's Top 200 chart last year. "Future / Past" was nominated for the Gospel Music Association Dove Award's "Worship Song of the Year" and Relevant Magazine listed Borderland as one of the "Top Albums of 2014."
"John Mark McMillan has an incredible track record as an artist and songwriter, and now he is expanding his role as he launches a new label," states Greg Bays, Executive Vice President of Capitol Christian Distribution. "His artistry is thought-provoking, creatively and spiritually inspiring, and unexpected in all the right ways. Our team is thrilled to work with him as he launches Lionhawk Records and this new EP."
You Are The Avalanche is set to release June 23 with the pre-order beginning today, June 16, by clicking here. This worship EP, co-written by McMillan and his wife Sarah, will be the first ever project from the duo. Included with the pre-order, fans will receive the instant download of the song "Heart Won't Stop."
